Abstract

Background: Breast cancer (Ca mammae) is a malignant condition characterized by uncontrolled and abnormal cell growth, leading to the formation of a mass in breast tissue that can spread to other parts of the body. Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers globally, with more than 2.29 million new cases in 2022. In Indonesia, the incidence continues to increase, with approximately 65,000 new cases annually. In North Sumatra, breast cancer is also a major health problem, with 393 cases reported in 2022. Objective: This case study aims to analyze the management of midwifery care for Mrs. J with breast cancer (Ca mammae) at RSU Haji Medan, North Sumatra Province, in 2025. Methods: This study used a descriptive case study approach involving one patient diagnosed with Ca mammae. Data were collected through interviews, observation, physical examination, and medical record documentation. The data were analyzed by reviewing the patient’s condition, history, and clinical findings, and then compared with relevant midwifery care theories and standards, using the 7-step management of Helen Varney. Results: The study showed that midwifery care management was carried out through comprehensive assessment, identification of patient problems, determination of potential risks, immediate action planning, implementation of care, and continuous evaluation. Collaborative management with other health professionals was also performed to ensure optimal patient care. Conclusion: Midwifery care management for patients with Ca mammae must be conducted comprehensively, systematically, and collaboratively to improve patient outcomes and prevent further complications.
